Moving Pictures is the gift that keeps on giving… it was the gateway album to Rush and it quite literally changed my life. I can still remember the first time I heard Tom Sawyer… and then once I got to Vital Signs… I just knew this band captured something magical that transcended on so many levels. 🙏🏻
Red Barchetta is probably my favorite Rush song too.
As far as fave side ones...Number of the Beast, Operation: Mindcrime, Boston, Bat Out of Hell, All 'n All, Appetite for Destruction, Van Halen I, Purple Rain. I guess I'll stop there. :) I was gonna add Wasting Light, but that wasn't divided into sides originally. But the first six of the eleven would be on my list as would the first five tracks on Ten. And heck while I'm at it, the first half of Crazysexycool.
It is a phenomenal trio of songs. The first one of those that I heard was "Maria Bethania" on a compilation and it blew my mind. I thought it was one of the coolest things I'd ever heard. Then, getting to know that album, I think "A Little More Blue" might be even better (if not as flashy). "London, London" is probably third best, and it's still a great song!

If you haven’t, I recommend reading Geddy’s bio. It’s fantastic!
One of the best albums ever made.

Haha, Rich. Only one to go for an even 10 and the inspiration for your next post… 😉
IDK, maybe!
It was the first one I bought after Exit and was my fave until Signals wrestled that honor away
Born to Run, Moondance, Who’s Next.
Oof! Three great selections, Alex.
Thanks!
A great post, a great album and, since you asked, this may be my favorite side one of an album :)

I’m glad I asked, because that’s a deep pull!
Thanks!

Just listened to Moving Pictures last night. Agreed that Side One is stronger.
It’s flawless
I’ve got tickets for October!
Fantastic!
