i have never been able to remember the band name for Saturdays in Silesia (and it was never important enough in the moment to search for). Thanks for solving that for me!
I don’t think it’ll surprise you to hear that I absolutely love Rational Youth 😁. Cold War Night Life is the album you should have. Their 1985 album Heredity wasn’t nearly as good. The title track was decent, but even that wasn’t released as a single, I just checked in my new favourite book 😁.
They were actually perfectly in tune with the evolution many synth-pop bands went through at the time. Even Ultravox headed in that direction. By the mid-80s, a lot of people thought synth-pop had run its course, so many of those bands adapted their sound in an attempt to move with the times.
CWNL is the treasure, no doubt. I know they did well in Europe, too. Pity some labels didn’t have foresight and the ability to let an artist be an artist.
Kind of a Devo/Talking Heads vibe...Rational Youth were not in my playlists, as I was today years old when I heard them, through you.
So glad you found a new/old fave!
I am going to be the lone voice that endorses the album. It isn't perfect, but the title track and No More are great
Hopefully not the lone voice, it is quite hit and miss though.

My pleasure 🫡

Wow, I really liked the synth heavy first track but not so much the others. I can see why fans would have been disappointed.
You and me both, Mark!
Saturdays is an incredible song. For me it represented being older and doing whatever you wanted on the weekend. Of course I could not.
Love it so much.
It’s a great tune, their early stuff was so interesting.
