Very proud to say that he was my MP, but had I met him, I likely would have put my foot in my mouth by confessing that I was always a bigger fan of his brother Pete (and the Skydiggers).
I know, New Zealand is really the Canada of the Southern Hemisphere. I saw the last US show from Midnight Oil (unless they reunite for another tour one day), and it was fantastic. I got to talk to Peter Garrett back in 1985 when he was doing a college radio tour, when he was doing a fan Q&A. Canβt remember what I asked him, but I recall him being super friendly.

lol. No shame in that. Bet heβd have laughed it off.
I suspect you're right and likely would have agreed with me, LOL!
I'd never heard of Lβetranger but know who Charlie Angus is of course. I also hadn't heard "Boomtown". Thanks for this!
My pleasure, as always π«‘
i also forgot about Boomtown. Great tune. Musicians who became politicians is a great topic for an expanded essay! I nominate you!
Not sure if theyβd be keen on that comparison! But they have exported some fantastic music over the years.

Iβve been lucky to see the Oils three times. Iβd go again tomorrow if I could.
Itβs a topic all right. All the interesting ones arenβt Canadian, though. Like Peter Garrett π¦πΊ
Australia is the Canada of the southern hemisphere so theyβre allowed for your criteria.;)
I had completely forgotten about Boomtown, what a treat.
Glad to bring a fond memory back. ππ»
